My name is Dr Melany McKenna, Clinical Director and founder of WellbeingWorks. I am a Clinical Psychologist, Cognitive Analytic Practitioner, Executive Coach and Organisational Development Practitioner. With over 20 years of experience of applying psychological principles to people and teams to help them function more efficiently and more compassionately, I am passionate about cultivating cultures of meaningful mental health support and viewing this in parity with physical health. I specialise in offering psychological supervision to other Psychologists and therapists.
I use Cognitive Analytic Therapy as my primary psychological model, due to it’s ability to provide a robust, relationally informed framework for integrative therapy. Thus my practise is integrative and informed by a range of psychological models including Psychodynamic theory, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural therapy and associated ‘third wave therapies’, and Schema therapy.
More recently I trained as a Pilates instructor and now teach regularly and hold retreats focused on women’s wellbeing. I find Pilates to be a helpful adjunct to psychological work, and great way to engage with mindful movement!
I hold professional registration with the Health Care Professions Council (PYL23816) and am accredited with the Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapy.
